Launch of .中国 (.CHINA )

As of September 15, 2012 ASCII domain names will become available under .中国. This IDN ccTLD means .CHINA in Simplified Chinese and is subject to the same registration rules as .CN. It was officially added into the root zone file in July, 2010.

Previously, only Chinese-script domain names were allowed to be registered. The ASCII domain names under .中国 may consist of combinations of English letters (Latin-script strings), Arabic numbers and hyphens.

The .中国 Sunrise period starts on September 15, 2012 and will end on October 14, 2012. The Sunrise requirements specify that eligible trademarks for Sunrise are those consisting of Chinese characters only, English letters only, numbers only, and their combinations. Trademarks that include pictures, combination of words and pictures, or other non-word elements are excluded. It is also important that Chinese characters have to be transliterated in Pinyin notation not in Punycode. Following the Sunrise, the launch process will go on with the Grandfathering for registrants of ASCII .CN domains from October 14-23 (UTC). The Go Live will start on October 28 (UTC). Domains will be registered on a first-come, first served basis
