    31.05.2017

Have you ever been curious to know the history of ICANN? How it was founded? Who were the key figures? What were their stories? To satisfy those curiosities ICANN has launched the ICANN History Project.

The project website has an archive of interviews with key figures such as Ira Magaziner, former Senior Policy Advisor to President Bill Clinton, Larry Strickling, former Assistant Secretary for Communications and Information and Administrator, National Telecommunications and Information Administration, U.S. Department of Commerce, Vint Cerf, one of the "fathers of the internet", Dr. Stephen Crocker, ICANN Board Chair, and many other major players from ICANN's past.

The project website is divided into thematic tracks allowing for delving into topics that interests one the most. The first track focuses on ICANN's relationship with the United States Government, from the U.S. Government's role in the establishment and development of ICANN to the steps leading up to the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) Stewardship Transition, as well as a timeline of key moments.

ICANN is also encouraging contributions from those within the industry. Anyone wanting to contribute should link to their blogs, videos or pictures via Twitter using the hashtag #ICANNHistory.

The ICANN History website is available in several languages including English, Spanish and French, but not German.
